JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client is building the largest and richest database of football fans worldwide, reaching millions of people. They are looking for a proactive, motivated, self-starter to join one of the most exciting businesses in football media as an Audience Acquisition Manager within their growing Audience & Data team.

 

This role presents a unique opportunity to lead the audience data acquisition strategy, working with best in class tools and breaking new ground in a shifting media landscape. With audience data integral to all parts of the business, this role will interface with all departments worldwide, championing the power of 1st party data. The role brings together our clients brilliant creative ability and engaged fan community, with unrivaled digital marketing and data insights techniques. This will provide the successful candidate with an incredible platform to create an industry-leading capability, and be the face of this function externally for the business working with some of the biggest and best brands, clubs, and players.

The ideal candidate will have least 2 years experience in a digital marketing or a data acquisition role preferably within a publishing/media company, or a business focused on driving subscriptions and user data. The candidate requires an excellent of knowledge of audience acquisition techniques, data analytics, managing user databases, CRM, paid media buying & planning, social platforms, data manipulation tools, audience segmentation & targeting techniques. A passion for football is preferred.

 

The role is based in the London office although will work across all areas of the business worldwide.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and manage data acquisition strategy to acquire first party (i.e. owned) data on the clients audience
  • Manage first-party audience database, ensuring insights from the data are understood and communicated throughout the business
  • Work closely with the Media and Creative teams to plan audience acquisition campaigns, ensuring smart and effective use of paid media and social content optimisation across Facebook, YouTube, Instagram etc.
  • Develop and manage CRM programmes to engage and retain our clients audience, e.g. newsletter programmes
  • Use best in class data tools and capability to unify customer data across multiple data sources
  • Build custom user segments to discover valuable audience insights to help inform content and platform strategy
  • Supporting the Brand Partnerships teams by using brand affinity data to increase leads, support their brand pitch processes and drive sponsorship revenue
  • Supporting the Media team with audience segmentation and custom audience segments for brand partner paid media campaigns
  • Liaise with external data partners to implement new tools, strategies and ensure data best practices are implemented and upheld

Experience:

  • At least 2 years demonstrable experience in Data / Audience Acquisition processes
  • At least 2 years experience building, managing, and growing audience/ user databases, e.g. for CRM and marketing purposes
  • An understanding of different types of audience data and how they can be applied in a media company environment (first, second, third party data etc.)
  • Strong analytical capability with experience of using a range of analysis, reporting and channel management/optimisation tools e.g. Google Analytics, Facebook Analytics, Google Ad-words, SEO ranking, and keyword analysis tools
  • An excellent understanding of social media platforms and how to build audience for content, including a strong level knowledge of Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter
  • Experience in paid media marketing campaigns on social platforms (Facebook, Youtube etc) – either directly or via working with Media teams to implement the campaigns
  • A good understanding of media budgeting and forecasting techniques incorporating channel specific key performance indicators
  • Solid knowledge of digital media and online marketing best practices
  • Experience building audiences around online video content is preferred

Skills:

  • Being highly motivated, a self-starter with experience working in a rapid results driven team.
  • Comfortable with a rapidly growing, ever-changing start-upenvironment
  • Comfortable with data analysis, interpretation and reporting
  • Strong communication skills – Ability to communicate complex data in a compelling and understandable way to a wide range of stakeholders across the business
  • A good understanding of the digital media landscape and developing technologies
  • A passion for football, with a good understanding of online football content and audiences is preferred, although not essential
