Event of the season: F1 and its teams get ready for glamour of Monaco

It’s a big week for Formula One.

It feels as though they are all big weeks for the sport when it comes to digital given the recent drive to overhaul the way F1 approaches online platforms, but this time it’s the Monaco Grand Prix – a red letter day in the sporting calendar, let alone the motorsport one.

The luxury setting on the coast at the start of the summer is the salubrious surrounds for a street circuit with heaps of history.

It’s the most recognisable grands prix of the year, and as such the build-up starts early.

So far this week, then, it’s not just the official F1 account that’s starting the festivities by taking to Twitter and Instagram, but content is being created by all the teams on their own websites, too.

Helpful guides to the course and the history of the race as well as videos shot on the marina and even quizzes whet the appetite for the race, whilst there’s build-up to the race itself in the context of this particular season.

As Ferrari pointed out, Monaco is a mix of tradition and modernisation. It’s probably the sport’s biggest, most glamorous occasion. For a sport which combines the sophistication of the cars with the history of the sport and its free-spirited image, this is arguably the absolute main event.

Over the next week, keep an eye out for what the teams and indeed the official F1 channels are doing on social media – there’ll be plenty of seaside photos, glamorous shots of sparkling seas and beautiful yachts as well as some helpful build-up to the race itself.
