Daily Digest: Everton make mascot history & MLB could loosen social media restrictions

The response to my article yesterday on the furore around The FA Cup tweet that ‘mocked’ Harry Kane has been fascinating. People who work in social media day-to-day have put their thoughts down and I’d love to hear more. Check it out here and get involved in the conversation.

Tonight is a big night as we’ll be discussing social media & sport at our latest Digital Sport Manchester event. The FA Cup tweet has thrown up some great questions that we’ll certainly discuss and get views on. So the timing of our trip north is great. Keep an eye out on #DSManchester for the latest from it and we’ll have videos from it over the coming days.

How should rights holders protect their copyright is a question that always come up during this social media era. The MLB is one of the most protective but is this starting to change as they realise that some of these accounts are actually benefiting the league and should be embraced and worked with, not shut down?

Everton Make Mascot History (evertonfc.com)

A good news story for the day. This is a great way for a club to make a big difference for young fans who would love the opportunity to attend a match, but due to their conditions cannot do so. Fantastic work by Scott McLeod and his team in making this happen.
