Everton FC launches referral campaign promoting use of its custom browser

Everton Football Club will use the holiday season to grow its customised online browser with a campaign named the 2015 “Blue Crimbo Challenge” – a ‘referral’ campaign to reward fans who sign up to the online browser and get their friends and family to do the same.

The campaign is being backed by actress Amanda Holden as well as Toffees’ boss Roberto Martinez and is aimed at significantly growing Everton’s branded online browser.

The challenge involves anyone who gets three people to sign up as active users winning a free limited edition Everton t-shirt, and there are also prize draws where fans can win half-season tickets and a personalised video from a player of their choice.

It is the second step of the development of an innovation which was launched earlier in the year in conjunction with UK-based company Premier Browser – a completely Everton branded downloadable online browser in which fans can earn credit from making purchases at over 1000 retailers which can then be redeemed in the Everton club store.

A percentage of each user’s spend is also donated directly to the club’s award-winning charity, Everton in the Community.

The development of the branded-browser, the first of its kind in the football world was recognised at the 2015 Football Business Awards when they beat Premier League rivals Chelsea and Aston Villa to pick up the ‘Most Innovative Use of Technology’ award.

Everton FC’s Head of Content Scott McLeod said that the browser signified good news all round for everyone involved and that any campaign promoting use of the browser would be a positive to the club.

“The Everton browser app, developed by Premier Browser, is a win-win-win: fans, the club and Everton in the Community benefit from a free and innovative solution”, he said.

“We have an outstanding relationship with David Berney and the team at Premier Browser – it is very much a collaborative and forward-thinking partnership. We’re already delivering results and will grow even further in the months and years ahead.”

The browser can be downloaded on mobile, tablet or desktop. It’s available as a proprietary browser on iOS and Android, and as an extension on Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Internet Explorer.
