Foot Locker launches fun twitter initiative with NBA star
Ahead of the start of the NBA season at the end of the month, popular US-based sports apparel firm Foot Locker has teamed up with Houston Rockets star James Harden for the #PlayMyTweet initiative.
The promotion will give social media users the ability to interact with Harden by sending a tweet to @FootLocker with something you’d like Harden to do using the hashtag #PlayMyTweet.
After picking the best and most creative suggestions sent in by tweeters, Foot Locker will print the suggestion on basketballs. And should Harden miss a shot when he plays the #PlayMyTweet challenge on October 8, he will follow through with the suggestion.
Of course when a company launches a campaign like this, there will be all sorts of ridiculous suggestions so Foot Locker has released a video with Harden who reminds viewers to keep it clean. Harden has also reminded people that he will not be shaving his famous beard. Some of the suggestions so far have included yodeling, eating a raw onion and talking trash in a British accent.
As social media continues to evolve, these types of challenges are becoming more and more common and you can expect to see more brands and companies using their access to players to engage with potential markets and fans through social media platforms.
