Trick or Tweeting: the Premier League’s best displays of Halloween spirit
Tonight marks the final night in the month of October, or as it is better known to those prone to mischief and merriment, the long-awaited holiday of Halloween. Partying, pumpkin carving, costumes and trick or treating unite the country in a long night of revelry. And what better way for football clubs to connect with their fans than to have their players partake in some of the Halloween fun? Take a look below for the best pranks, games and videos produced by Premier League Clubs.
Mustafi Gives the Gunners a Fright
Arsenal’s new star defender has more talents than just tackling. Mustafi terrified his teammates with a prank that saw them entranced by a game of “Where’s Gunnersaurus,” only for the screen to flash to a video of Mustafi in a frightening getup. A few of the Arsenal players showed real fortitude, but keep an eye out for Iwobi’s startled reaction.
Spurs Stars Take on the Undead

Kyle Walker decided to show new teammates Vincent Janssen and Georges-Kévin N’Koudou how the North London club celebrates Halloween by challenging them to survive a game of “Spurs v Zombies.” The Tottenham players may be composed on the pitch, but when it comes to zombies they are far from cool under pressure.
Manchester City Sends Fans Pumpkin Chasing
Congrats to @jasonlyons2014 who found our #halloween pumpkin!

Never ones to miss an opportunity for fan engagement, City is encouraging supporters to share their City-inspired carved pumpkins over Twitter to be added to the club’s Pinterest. The club also hid a pumpkin of its own and encouraged fans to find it for free match tickets, all the while streaming the event over Facebook Live.
Lucas Leiva Shows His Inner-Self

Liverpool also went the contest route, offering a signed shirt for the best costume. Even better, the club shared photos of its players’ own Halloween costumes, and if their efforts are any indication then the club’s standards are very high for anyone hoping to win that signed shirt. Roberto Firmino’s skeletal Batman is delightfully unnerving, but Lucas Leiva is the stand out with his horrifying makeup and attire.
Romeu Continues to Shine (In Glowing Makeup)
Happy Halloween, #SaintsFC fans! ???? https://t.co/OTBlH3j2Nd

The Saints kept it simple with a short clip of midfield anchor Oriol Romeu dressed as a skeleton. While not elaborate, Romeo continues to prove that he is a vital part of Southampton this season, shoring up the club’s midfield and social media presence.
The Premier League’s Twitter Celebrates with Some Cruelty
#PL legend @IanWright0 returns to haunt his former club in today's Ghoul of the Day #Halloween special! ???? ????

Why should the clubs have all of the fun? The official Premier League Twitter account released a video of Ian Wright scoring for Arsenal against former club Crystal Palace, but the edited lightning effects, spooky sounds and spider webs are probably not the most unnerving part for Eagles fans.
Stoke City Look to Break the Curse
.@SwansOfficial @premierleague ???? SPOOKY | #SCFC haven't won a home game on Halloween since 1970… a 3-1 victory over Huddersfield Town.
— Stoke City FC (@stokecity) October 31, 2016
Stoke City has been promoting tonight’s match against Swansea City with a series of stats, promising a special Halloween inclusion. After reading it, Stoke fans might have reason to be frightened: The club has not won a home match on Halloween since 1970. The tweet is oddly self-deprecating for a promotional stat, but it has provided tonight’s match with the added bonus of a spooky Halloween narrative.
However, our favourite bit of Halloween-themed sports content comes from the other side of the pond, where Rutgers University transformed the introduction to The Walking Dead. Superb.
