Nike introduces Pro Genius Mental Training to the Nike Football App

Nike have introduced ‘Pro Genius’, a series of interactive mental performance games and tools to help players think, predict and react as fast as the pros.

Available on iPhone and Android exclusively through the Nike Football app, the feature gives smartphone users access to a range of tips and games to improve football nous. Such games are aimed at ‘honing the users’ counter attack state of mind’, guiding their ‘mental warm up and visualisation’ and enhance elements of defence via practical videos.

After releasing its digital media campaign ‘The Switch‘ a few days ago, just before the start of the EUROs, this feature is an impressive step up for Nike who are looking to challenge Adidas for digital domination during the tournament.

It not only brings the users closer to the players they look up to, but actually gets them involved, for example; in the game pictured below, the user is prompted to choose the player they think is in the best position to receive the ball.

Of course, Nike couldn’t announce new features of the app without releasing a star-studded video to promote them. Starring Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski, Mario Götze, Kevin De Bruyne, Jérôme Boateng, Joe Hart & Andrea Pirlo, their latest video describes how mental training “separates the good from the truly great”, and Nike Football’s new tool  is designed to help players of all levels tackle the psychological side of the game.

Leading ambassador Cristiano Ronaldo shared the advertisement on his official Facebook page with the following message: “The game starts tomorrow, but the mental preparation starts now. Train your brain like the pros with Nike Football pro genius go.nike.com/footballapp” – it’s already received over 270,000 views:
