MLB teams up with Apple in new iPad partnership

Apple will provide Major League Baseball teams with iPads to help analyse data in a new partnership which is set to commence on Sunday with the first pitch of the season.

Under the deal, the tech giant will provide all 30 teams of the Major League Baseball with iPad Pro tablets that will include a new analytics and video app dedicated to the game named “MLB Dugout”.  NFL and Microsoft have a similar deal that dates back to 2013 with the competing tech company providing the NFL with Surface tablets.

Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Philip Schiller said the company was excited to work with the MLB and get Apple technology into all dugouts.

“With iPad Pro and the new MLB Dugout app, managers, coaches and players will have unprecedented access to statistics, data and scouting videos right at the touch of their fingers, and when it matters most, during the game,” he said.
