B2B marketplace aims to become a business facilitator for the sports media rights industry

Content Arena, a B2B marketplace that connects sellers and buyers of sport media rights, will make its official debut at Sportel Monaco in October. Founded by a team of industry experts, the platform seeks to facilitate trading between market players by offering a one-stop marketplace that not only provides selling and buying options, but also additional services that help to manage and automate the rights trading process. Key features of Content Arena are the automated creation of legal documents, rights portfolio management, secure payment processes as well as the option to manage the technical content distribution.

“Our key focus is to make rights trading as efficient, convenient and transparent as possible for all parties by creating a one-stop marketplace for the industry. We clearly see ourselves as a technology enabled service provider for all market players – rights holders, buyers and agencies alike. We are convinced that our platform will be of benefit for everyone and will increase the possibilities and flexibility of rights trading”, states co-founder Sascha Kojic.

“Driven by new technological developments as well as emerging sports and markets, the media rights landscape is becoming more and more fragmented with a continuously growing amount of content on the one hand, and a growing number of distributors on the other. Our goal is to provide easy access to content and offer better market visibility, especially for second tier rights”, adds Kojic’s business partner Erik Lorenz.

Thanks to the experience and network of the founding team, the company was able to run a successful beta testing period with relevant market players since July. During this period, more than 300 Football matches (UEFA Champions League, Europa League, UEFA 21 Qualifiers and international friendlies) were traded on Content Arena. Rights can be sold using various mechanisms such as fixed pricing or bidding auctions and caters for all relevant territorial, exclusivity and technological rights specifications.

Content Arena is well on its way and focused on preparing for its official market introduction at the Sportel in Monaco, taking place from October 23th to 26th.
