Saints team up with Twitter to send live alerts to fans

Southampton Football Club will become the first sports club in the UK to alert its fans to real-time events via Twitter’s direct messaging service.

After working closely with the social platform, Saints have officially activated this new service available to all the club’s followers.

Throughout the Saints Premier League games, all supporters will be able to receive key updates about the fixture, including goal-alerts, half-time and full-time scores by turning on notifications from Southampton FC’s official Twitter handle.

All breaking news from the club will be sent via Direct Message. To sign up, Twitter users simply click here to send a message to the club, saying “PLAY”, in order to receive real-time alerts on their mobile.

The service will officially kick-off on Saturday for Saints clash at home against Newcastle United.
