Leicester City FC’s digital evolution

Leicester City Football Club has experienced a meteoric rise in its digital following on the back of a club-changing season which will see them play in the Champions League next year for the first time.

Statistics provided by digital sports media platform Result Sports chart the ‘digital evolution’ of Leicester City’s social media platforms and paint a picture of a club on the rise not just on the field, but off it as well.

The figures are astounding but not particularly surprising, with the football club’s social media platforms attracting just shy of 3.2 million new followers across its Facebook, Twitter, Google +, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn and Vine accounts since the start of the 2014/2015 Premier League season.

Out of all the different platforms, it’s been its Facebook, Google + and Instagram accounts that have seen the biggest increase, skyrocketing by 2.41 million (1247%), 55,148 (1500%) and 331,626 (2798%) followers respectively.

With the club in poll position to win the 2015/2016 Premier League and complete its remarkable season, the numbers are only likely to improve.
