Follow the behind the scenes of the Paralympics with Samsung’s athlete bloggers

After the lull and post-Olympic blues come the Paralympic games in Rio. The games are only a weekend old, but already medals have been handed out, and plenty of action has entertained the crowds.

But for some paralympic athletes, they’ve been tasked with blogging their games for Samsung.

The technology giant has designated some of their athletes as bloggers for the games, and they will document their games on videos posted to YouTube throughout the next few weeks. And you can keep up to date with their blogs here, on this YouTube playlist.

The athletes will be using their Samsung S7 phones to take videos documenting their experiences, and some have already uploaded some very interesting videos!

Like this one from French athlete Arnaud Assoumani, who competes in the long jump, the triple jump and the 100 metres. Assoumani takes us inside the French team’s journey from the Olympic village to the opening ceremony of the games, and of the ceremony itself.

It’s an interesting approach from Samsung, whose ads across the Olympic – and now Paralympic – games featuring Jack Whitehall have made something of a splash. But now, using athletes competing for countries around the world to document their experiences of the Paralympics is a different and novel approach.

They’ve also used it to show off one of the selling points of their own S7 phone – the fact that it’s waterproof. As you can see from the video below, Spanish swimmer and 22-time Paralympic medalist Teresa Perales takes us into a training session with her Spanish teammates, and then takes phone underwater with her.

We’ll look forward to seeing the rest of the games documented through the eyes of the athletes, and the lenses of their phones!
