A football table to connect French players and fans

Ahead of the next international friendly window at the end of the month, French Football Federation’s partner Volkswagen is launching a new fan experience including the first-ever digital football table – or put more simply, digital foosball.

On Tuesday 22 March at the French Federation training center in Clairefontaine, six international French players will participate in a connected foosball table tournament called #FraFra.

Tagged as being “powered by fans”, fans will be able to interact with the games including choosing multiple balls in the same game, the number of players as well as using a collection of effects in order to make the game harder for the players.

To select effects, fans will vote on Twitter and the effect with more votes will be activated before being replaced by another. All fans will be able to watch the tournament via a dedicated website.

Brand Director for Volkswagen France Thierry Sybord said this is a great innovation to not only get people involved in the upcoming friendlies but also for the upcoming Euros.

“This innovation will allow us to put French players and fans closer around a fantastic game. Three months before the Euro 2016, we want to support our team and reach an enthusiasm from fans” he said.

This activation is just another step of the French Football Federation’s “Proud to be Blue” campaign launched at the beginning of the month.
