#jinglehoops – A Festive Feeling in the NBA
It is that time of year when Christmas adverts are a hot topic of conversation and this year’s offering from the NBA certainly does not disappoint.
The NBA’s 2013 festive campaign complete with festive hashtag’s #BIGNBAXmas and #jinglehoops was released on the official NBA Twitter and You Tube accounts. Both hashtags have received over 5k mentions on Twitter so far (Topsy stats) in 7 hours, originating from the main @NBA account and spread out from its 8.6m followers.
The 35 second piece starring Derrick Rose, Kevin Duran, Stephen Curry, James Harden, Steve Nash and NBA favourite LeBron James reveals the ‘big-look-logo’ sleeved uniforms that will be worn in the Dec. 25 quintuple-header.
Festive marketing campaigns are a multi-million pound business and over recent years companies have started to realise the potential of having a digital media strand to their overall strategy.
The NBA have really embraced this with the #jinglehoops campaign, harnessing the retail potential of a festive advert by showcasing the ‘limited addition Christmas Day uniforms’ (I’m sure garments that will be on thousands of Christmas lists.)
It has certainly got me in the Christmas spirit!
