AS Roma promote their Twitter players

AS Roma have been exceptionally pro-active when it comes to social media within the club.  They obviously support the use of Twitter and other platforms by players, which is still the exception rather then the rule.

To help promote the players Twitter accounts to the clubs fans they have released a video featuring the players and their handles.  It’s a nice move by the club.  They have recognised that the more they support the players then in turn they will help the club.  It has always been something the social media teams I’ve worked in have been keen to be pro-active with.

The better and more aware a player (or anyone within an organisation) is of how they can benefit, what they should be doing and what they can do for the club the better.  It can’t be all ‘take’ by one of the parties, something some businesses fail to recognise.

The club already has a substantial footprint on social platforms including; YouTube (38k subscribers), Twitter (155k followers), Facebook (1.46m fans), LinkedIn and Pinterest.  This push on their channels I’m sure has gone down well with those involved.

Shergul Arshad, Head of Digital at AS Roma, sums up the initiative;

“We wanted to promote all our players using Twitter to help them get more followers and perhaps encourage more of our players to use twitter.  As twitter is still relatively new in Italy, the video also helps brand @OfficialASRoma and Twitter as a platform”

The video is below.  It’s in Italian but you get the idea….
