Podcast #6: Jon Burkhart talks newsjacking, tapping into sports fan’s passion and BALLSY content

Jon Burkhart is a speaker, author, content creator and all round bundle of energy that you may have seen at SXSW (6 years in a row), SEAT Las Vegas/London or any number of other events.

In 2013 he released his co-authored book, Newsjacking: The Urgent Genius of Real-time Advertising and has since written Hacker Maker Teacher Thief (2014) and now Ballsy Brands (2016).

His talks and workshops are something to behold as he uses various props to keep his audience enthralled, including a nerf gun, rubber balls, shuttle runs and much more. You can’t help but remember being part of his events.

He was worked for Copa90, the MLS and is currently a consultant working across a number of sport and non-sport brands. Helping them create content that fans will remember (for the right reasons).

We talk in this episode about his passions, how he has got to where he is, his highest (and lowest) moments and why he loves working in sport so much.
