Liverpool FC claim first with launch of new iPad game

Some news from ‘The Drum’ that I wanted to add quickly as it is the first I have heard about it.  It is the news that Liverpool have run up another first after the luanch of the e-commerce store they have now taken steps into social gaming.

The Drum reports;

The mobile team at Liverpool Football club say they have scored another digital first with the launch of an official iPad game.  Developed by Bright Al, it is said to be the very first game of its type to be made for a football club.

Based round a penalty shoot out theme its combines real song and chants from the Kop along with realistic football player movements to mimic the the atmosphere of Anfied.

Meanwhile, players will be able to engage and complete with Liverpool fans world-wide with the use of online leaderboards.

Club mobile manager Katy Smith was reported as saying: “Mobile provides an important channel for fans to engage with the club, not only on match-days but for entertainment too.”

 

The LFC official site also has this release stating;

Liverpool FC today launched (3rd March) their latest official app for Apple devices – the LFC Official Penalty Shootout.

It’s the club’s first ever app for the iPad, while an iPhone version is also available.

The LFC Official Penalty Shootout game offers supporters the chance to pit their skills against a Reds goalkeeper from 12 yards in front of the world famous Kop.

The highly addictive app features three game modes: Classic Penalty, Time Attack and Target.

In total, there are 20 Game Center Achievements to unlock and three Leaderboards to compete in, so you can compare your penalty-taking skills with fellow Liverpool fans from all around the world.

The app costs just £1.19 from the iTunes store.

Well done to LFC, we wait to see how well it takes off and what other ‘firsts’ they manage in the coming weeks!
