Running Heroes rewarding those who exercise

Want to win rewards for going for a run?

Paris-based start up company Running Heroes is making it possible by offering incentives to those who record their running distances and habits.

Founded early in 2014, Running Heroes has facilitated a successful launch of its overseas branches which has seen over 20,000 people from the UK become a member and over 12,000 people in Australia. This is in addition to the 200,000 members just based in France.

The platform places users at the very heart of its platform which aims to change the sedentary lifestyle that’s the norm these days by encouraging people to go out and run or play sport or practice more and more.

By rewarding “everyday athletes” by offering members discounts or free products in exchange for brand visibility, the platform has introduced a novel way in which to get people exercising.

How it works exactly?

1.Create a free account on runningheroes.com
2.Link your account with one of the partners’ applications (Garmin Connect, Nike+, Runtastic, Strava, Runkeeper, MapMyRun, Endomondo and Polar).
3. Go for a run!

It is the first rewarding platform for runners launched in the UK and more platforms for different activities have been already introduced or are on their way including Cycling Heroes and Skiing Heroes in France as well as the UK and Australia.

With Running Heroes, each synchronized running session is turned into points based on the distance, duration, elevation and speed as well as the gender and age of the runner in an effort to fairly reward efforts. The rewards include discount codes for sport products such as equipment and accessories but also care products, nutrition and dietary products or subscriptions to specialised magazines.

While they’ve had a very good response in the two years they’ve been in operation, they’ve also managed to partner with some very big players in the sports industry including Nike, Adidas, Asics, New Balance, Mizuno, Saucony, Brooks, Reebok and Skins.

With further expansion planned and more partners penned, the idea of rewarding people for simply exercising is sure to gain speed.
