PFA hires Snack Media to ensure more football fans get their say in revamped monthly awards

Snack Media – a leading independent sports digital media company – has been brought in by the Professional Footballers’ Association of England and Wales (PFA) as their new digital media partner for the forthcoming three seasons to revamp their monthly awards and give more football fans across the UK an opportunity to determine the winner than ever before.

The PFA Bristol Street Motors Player of the Month Awards recognise the achievements of the best footballers in the country’s top four divisions – the Premier League, Championship, League 1 & League 2. The monthly winners are voted by the public after a panel selects a shortlist of six players from each league. Snack Media has introduced a fresh approach to the panel, with regular panellists from the PFA and Snack Media Group (which include some of the UK’s biggest football content websites). They will be joined by guest panellists each month, which will include ex-pros, officials, managers, journalists, social media influencers and, crucially, football fans from across the country. Their inclusion ensures the panel has more of an equal representation across the four leagues than ever before.

In a unique addition, supporters will be able to see the panellists’ reasons for choosing their selected shortlist of players. Snack Media has also designed and will oversee a new-look voting site and boost Social Media engagement of the Awards. In an exciting move, they will allow the Player of the Month Award voting widget to be embeddable on multiple websites at the same time, giving footballs fans more access to cast their vote than in previous years.

Speaking about the revamped awards process, and Snack Media’s inclusion as their new Media Partner, PFA Enterprises’ Commercial Director, George Berry, said, “The PFA Fans’ Player of the Month and Year Awards are designed to give a strong voice to the supporters who are the lifeblood of the game. Our partnership with Snack Media means that more fans than ever, from all over the world can have their say month in, month out.”

Niall Coen, CEO of Snack Media, said, “We are incredibly proud – and obviously very excited – to partner with one of the institutions of British Football. Never before have these Awards been so open and accessible to football fans. As Jock Stein famously said, “Football is nothing without fans”, so we wanted to put fans at the centre of the biggest and most important monthly football awards. It’s an honour to be working with Gordon Taylor, George Berry and the team at the PFA and we cannot wait for the first set of Awards to be launched.”

Those looking to vote on the monthly awards can do so from October 3rd, 2017 by visiting www.footballfancast.com/pfa-awardsas well as on sites including FootballLeagueWorld.co.uk, FootballTransferTavern.com and a number of other selected websites. The voting process will see each league’s player shortlist online for ten hours on consecutive days over a week, with the Premier League vote open from 10am-11pm on Tuesdays, followed by the English Football League Championship on Wednesday, the English Football League 1 on Thursday and the English Football League 2 on Fridays. The winner of each Award will be announced the following day after their respective voting closes.
