Nissan to give fans a chance to experience the Champions League final with Tottenham legend Ginola

As the finale of most of Europe’s biggest football leagues has already taken place, the calendar has magically cleared.

The end of the season is a busy time as titles are fought for and rearranged fixtures are crammed in, but after the final league games, there’s invariably an entire week of freedom for fans until the cup finals start next weekend. And after that there’s another free week before the Champions League final on 3rd June.

Don’t lament the end of the football season just yet, then.

And although it might seem strange that just a day after Chelsea lifted the Premier League trophy and Real Madrid sealed their first La Liga crown in five years, Nissan have launched a new UEFA Champions League campaign – but for many football fans, there really are only one or two big matches remaining of this current football season. It’s the perfect time, really.

Nissan’s new campaign has seen the car manufacturer link up with former PSG star David Ginola to launch the #GetThereWithGinola campaign, which offers fans the chance to win tickets to the Champions League final in Cardiff. The catch? You have to show off just how enthusiastic you are to win – and the best attempt gets to attend the final with the man himself.

Ginola himself never managed to experience the Champions League final during his career: the closest he got was the 1995 semi-final, when his Paris Saint-Germain side was knocked out by AC Milan, before the title was eventually won by Louis van Gaal’s legendary Ajax side. Nissan’s campaign is to bring the former France star and one lucky fan to Cardiff to experience the final Ginola never got the chance to.

“We wanted to use our partnership with the UEFA Champions League in a different and creative way that will really excite UK football fans ahead of this year’s final in Cardiff.” Said Chris Marsh, Marketing Director, Nissan.

“We also wanted to offer fans genuine unexpected access by offering a truly unique prize – the chance to watch the match with a true footballing legend. Working with Red Bee and Fuse, we hope to extend our reach by enlisting David Ginola and building a campaign that encourages fans to be part of the journey, as well as being creative without bounds. We are excited to launch the campaign and really look forward to seeing what fans come up with!”

We’re all looking forward to the Champions League final between Juventus and Real Madrid, two huge names of European football. And although Cardiff’s Principality Stadium has a large capacity, only a select few can experience the final in all its glory. So there’ll be plenty of fans just as enthusiatic to experience the final as Ginola.
