Melbourne Stars launch innovative youth engagement digital platform

The Melbourne Stars have launched an innovative digital platform to engage young fans over the upcoming seventh season of KFC Big Bash League. Developed by Eastwood, the Stars Squad platform heralds a new chapter in kid engagement, with Stars hosting one of the best youth focused digital experiences in Australian sport.

Stars Squad is an interactive website giving fans access to immersive content and the ability interact with the site to create a personalised memento. While being available on the web, the use of cutting edge technologies gives it a visual and interactive feel of that of a native iPad app. The launch of Stars Squad is part of a multi-year engagement initiative, focused on connecting with the next generation of Stars fans.

Headlining the experience is Starmoji. Leveraging the generation’s general love of emojis, Starmoji gives fans the ability to create their own Stars themed, cartoon likeness of themselves. Once created, fans get their own Starmoji powered playing card and poster that can easily be shared with friends and family.

The website platform is supported with other activity including a Starmoji iMessage app and at-match activations during the BBL. At home games fans can create their own Starmoji in a purpose-built concourse activation and enjoy having their creation presented on the vision screens situated around the stadium.

The platform will be extended each season to offer more youth orientated information and engagement options such as mobile games, fun quizzes and more.
