Man City announce partnership with Tinder as they search for the perfect match

Manchester City have announced that they have signed a multi-year partnership with Tinder, “the world’s most popular app for meeting new people,” according to the official website.

Such a partnership was never going to emerge quietly.

Last year, Italian title-chasers and fellow sky-blue side Napoli teamed up with the app to launch a partnership where fans could swipe right on striker Arkadiusz Milik, welcoming the Polish player back into the club fold after his injury-ravaged first season in Italy.

That story was picked up by news outlets around the world as the Italian giants became the first club to team up with the popular app.

This morning, City’s announcement wasn’t quiet either, with a City and Tinder branded blimp spotted over the Manchester sky, proclaiming the partnership with the hashtag #perfectmatch.

After an imperfect Champions League quarter final first leg away to Liverpool the night before, the players will be in need of some TLC before a derby-day date with city rivals Manchester United on Saturday tea-time.

The deal will also see Tinder team up with City’s men’s and women’s teams as well as sister side New York City FC, whilst “App users and football fans from around the world,” can look forward to activations and engagements as well as access to games and in-stadium events.

“Tinder is a huge global platform which, just like football, is bringing millions of people together every day all around the world,” said Tom Glick, City Football Group’s Chief Commercial Officer.

“Football is all about a community of fans, sharing moments, emotions and passion for the sport they love.”

“Together with Tinder, we have a great opportunity to explore how we can combine Tinder’s significant appeal and reach with our global audience to create even more relationships in a new, fun and creative way. We believe this will be a perfect match for Tinder and for City.”
