Liverpool FC and Lotus Racing to speak at ‘Social Media & Sport Summit’ in London
We are delighted to announce that Liverpool FC and Lotus Racing have joined an already fantastic speaker line up for the Social Media & Sport Summit in London next month.
It will be the first time that either of these famous names in sport has spoken in public about their work in social media. With LFC Community Manager Matt Owen talking about how they look after a community of over 1.5m Facebook ‘likes’ (the largest of any EPL club) and the issues they have faced using this new media, backed up by football industry consultant Mike Dunphy who will be showing some of the impacts of Facebook on iPhone App sales.
Lotus Racing was granted its entry to the 2010 Formula One™ World Championship on September 12th 2009. Five short months later the team unveiled its 2010 challenger, the T127, and exactly one month later, on March 12th, took to the track for the first time in competition at Friday practice at the Bahrain Grand Prix. Now, at the halfway point of the 2010 season, the team has clearly established itself as the best of the new teams, and is fast making ground on the established midfield teams – an incredible achievement for a team in any form of international sport, let alone the pinnacle of global motorsport.
Alongside the growth of the factory and race team has been the creation, development, launch and communication of the Lotus Racing brand. Tom Webb, Lotus Racing Press Officer, will be discussing the role digital communications, and specifically social media, has played in the establishment of the team’s brand in one of the most competitive media environments in any form of modern sport or entertainment today, The Formula One™ World Championship.
There are still tickets available for this limited event at £100pp. There is a 25% discount available if you are (or become) a member of The UK Sports Network or Social Media & Sport Linkedin groups – the discount code is advertised within the group.
More information on the event is on http://smsslondon.eventbrite.com
The Social Media & Sport Summit is run in association with Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP, FC Business and Colorset UVI Ltd.
