Investec allows fans to get even closer to the Ashes

On the eve of the fourth Ashes test, series’ sponsor Investec have further unveiled their platform which allows avid cricket fans and statistic nuts to get even closer to the action. And with England on the verge of a historic home Ashes victory, the timing of the release of this nifty little piece of technology is ideal.

The Investec Test Tracker is an online hub for anyone searching for any information that is even remotely related to the Ashes, from statistics and scorecards to wagonwheel infographics and player profiles. And while many other cricket platforms have attempted to introduce a platform providing similar information, Investec are the first ones to do it in such an eye-pleasing and user friendly way.

Investec’s Online Marketing Manager Martin Moore said that the company’s goal was to attempt to associate Investec’s understanding of performance with their sponsorship.

One of our goals was to highlight our understanding of performance and data and associate that with our cricket sponsorship; both cricket and finance are data-heavy areas and it’s not always easy to visualise that data.

Wagonwheel

Mr Moore indicated that although the platform went live last year, they had spent 12 months fine-tuning it for this years’ England home Ashes series.

The Investec Test Tracker was developed with design and technology agency Athlon and went live last year ahead of the England v India Investec Test Series. Since then, we surveyed our users to find out what features they’d like to see more of. We then further developed the Test Tracker to give even greater analysis and data visualisation. The Match Progress section now has a more detailed analysis bar, so users get a run-by-run view. The Match Scorecard is a new section, showing player performance which is then linked to the Player Profiles section. It’s a more traditional view but has the benefit of enhanced stats. In the Player Profiles section, users can now compare each player’s performance against each other, as well as see their overall contribution to the Test and Series.

The hub also fills the need for cricket/Ashes fans who are looking for crisp imagery of the day’s events. Organised in sequence with what happened during each day of cricket, the gallery is arranged in an eye-pleasing and logical way making it extremely user friendly.

Mr Moore also said that Investec wanted to make the platform seamless in order to attract users back to the site to get their Ashes and cricket data.

Above all, we wanted users to want to visit the Test Tracker and get their fix of cricket data. The features all combine to give a comprehensive view of the Investec Ashes and has proven to be a great companion app for those following the cricket on TV or radio.
