Ibrahimovic says emotional goodbye to Swedish national team in Volvo’s latest film

Volvo have released a powerful piece of emotional storytelling to thank Zlatan Ibrahimovic for his service. After fifteen years representing Sweden, Zlatan played his final match in the yellow jersey against Belgium on Wednesday at Euro 2016, with Volvo’s new ad capturing the moment and the striker’s journey back to Sweden.

The spot features Zlatan and his family taking an emotional road trip home, retracing the highs and lows of his career before reaching the rough Malmö neighbourhood of Rosengård, where it all began.

“We are very proud that we have been given this opportunity to share this personal moment in Zlatan’s life and career. He is a very strong ambassador for Sweden around the world and he has shown that you can continue to be proud of your values and your origins,” said Anders Gustafsson, Senior Vice President, Europe, Middle East and Africa at Volvo.

Following the previous success of the first Volvo-Zlatan film entitled ‘Prologue‘ – which has been viewed over 6 million times – Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer was drafted in for the epic second stage of the story; ‘Epilogue’:

This isn’t the first planned ad in sport we’ve seen in recent weeks, with Nike releasing an emotional tribute to Cleveland Cavaliers’ fans within hours of them claiming their first NBA title in over 50 years.
