Huddersfield Giants to trial cutting edge AI recording platform Veo Technologies

Veo Technologies, a global leader in AI-powered sports recording and analysis, has announced that Super League club Huddersfield Giants will trial its cutting-edge video solution ahead of the 2021 Bet Fred Super League season.

The trial represents Veo’s first venture into the sport of Rugby League and will see Huddersfield Giantsimplement the innovative technology within pre-season training and their Academy system.
Used by more than 4,000 sports clubs in 74 countries, Veo Technologies is a portable and affordable video solution which enables sports teams to record and analyse matches and training sessions without the need for a camera operator. Veo’s software then creates a full viewable recording of the match, using AItechnology which enables the camera to follow the ball. Users can then study their match, cut highlights and share with players.

Huddersfield Giant’s use of the technology will allow the club’s first team coaches to review training and match footage of its young players and help provide them with a pathway into the first team. The club will also provide Veo with valuable feedback which will enable the company to further develop the technology for use in rugby league, with the platform already used widely in football and also rugby union.

Former Huddersfield Giants and ex-international player Eorl Crabtree, now a club ambassador, commented: “Rugby league has been at the forefront of professionalism and technological innovation for many years, with the sport’s video referee pushing in similar developments in rugby union and more recently football.

“We’re delighted to have the opportunity to break new ground in the sport by becoming the first rugby league club to trial Veo’s camera technology, to help us develop the next generation of club stars. The technology will allow our first team coaches to provide invaluable feedback to young players and give them the opportunity to achieve first team honours this season.”

Oli Perkins, Market Manager at Veo, added: “We’re delighted that Huddersfield Giants have come on board with us to trial our technology ahead of the 2021/22 season. Our technology is already being used by top level football and rugby union clubs and we’re excited to enter the rugby league market for the first time.”
