Formula One partners with Twitter to broadcast new live post-race show

Formula One and Twitter have announced that they will collaborate on a post-race F1 Live Show streamed exclusively on the platform and which will begin with the Spanish Grand Prix later this month.

The official @F1 Twitter account will broadcast a post-race show hosted by Will Buxton and co-hosted by F1 legend Nico Rosberg – with the promise of further legends to join up with the show, too.

Broadcast from the paddock after the podium ceremony, it will feature analysis of the race as well as interviews with key figures from the action that’s just happened from in and amongst the teams and the cars, taking in the atmosphere and bringing fans closer to the action even after the race has finished.

Twitter and F1’s collaboration also means that fans of the sport from all over the world will be able to tune into the broadcast. It will be made available globally via the official F1 account which has grown its following to over 3.5m and will give the federation the chance to engage even more with its fans as well as allowing sponsors to get the most reach for their brands.

In addition to the post-race show, Twitter will also host the platform’s highlights clips. The social media platform continues to host more and more live sport, and has also committed to partnering with publishers and rights holders to create highlights, reaction and content around sport as well as the live events themselves.

Formula One, meanwhile is continuing to drive forward its plans for digital expansion with partnerships like this as well as other innovative projects like a fantasy league and its generally increasing use of social media.

Frank Arthofer, Director of Digital and New Business, Formula 1 said, “On the heels of the of F1 TV launch announcement, we are thrilled to announce a new initiative aimed at expanding our fan engagement and monetization strategy on Twitter. Twitter came to us early on with an emphasis on co-producing original live content to extend the race weekend dialogue. Given how well their platform caters to driving conversation around global live events, the strategic fit was perfect; we’re thrilled to be partnering with them on this show in 2018.”
