FC Copenhagen add replay feature to their club app

Last season’s Danish champions FC Copenhagen have launched a new app to provide fans inside their stadium, Telia Parken, with replays of the action on their phones just seconds after it has taken place, the club has announced.

The inside of a football ground is one of the few places where fans are disconnected from the digital world. Nowadays, Twitter provides instant updates, analysis and comment on the game taking place; TV cameras provide replays from different angles and attempt to give viewers clarity over what happened. Inside the stadium, spotty access to wi-fi is often an issue, but often a lack of replays in the ground can cause confusion – and then there are just moments of skill you’d like to see over and over again.

Fans of the Danish capital club will now be able to access replays of key match moments on their phones, connected to the stadium’s free wi-fi connection, just nine seconds after they happen on the pitch. It’s a step forward for those inside the stadium who are focused on the game taking place below them, but who would like a replay to make sense of a crucial event in the match.

“In partnership with Telia we have produced a rather technical setup to provide this service. Telia Replay is built to complement the matchday experience through quick access to small video replays during the match. The spectator can quickly find the requested scene, watch it and bring back the attention to the game in a few seconds,” says Casper Heiselberg, Head of Digital at FC Copenhagen.

“We all know the situation, where you wait for the reaction on social media or for the jumbotron to show a tackle or a big chance during the match. With Telia Replay you can instantly watch the scene and quickly get your focus back onto the game.”

“The feedback from our spectators have been very positive so far.”

The Telia Replay feature is available on both of the club’s apps, VoresKBH – the main club app – and Telia Parken Live – the stadium app.
