The Rugby World Cup is the biggest set-piece event of the autumn. Taking place in Japan just months before the Olympic Games in Tokyo next summer, this is a huge opportunity for the sport to hammer home its growing popularity in Asian markets.
It’s also a time of excitement and potential change to the structure of rugby. A shake up to the calendar could be in the offing, and the arrival of a World League could see the yearly tests between the northern and southern hemisphere rivals become part of a wider tournament.
After what’s turned out to be a crucial World Cup thanks to England’s amazing run to the final, we’ll be looking at digital’s role throughout the tournament, and evaluating how the sport can ensure that it uses this springboard to build in new markets. We’ll also tackle how incorporate digital media can foster better collaboration between unions, and what the rise of Sevens could mean for the sport.
Drinks included.
