Digital Sport London #17: Is the future of sport a virtual one?

February 13, 2018 @ 8:30 am - 11:00 am

£25

In the first #DSLondon event of 2018, we take a look at the second of our monthly ‘hot topics’…. Virtual Reality. The technology is not new but it is becoming more accessible and costs are heading south, so new ways in which it can be used are being developed almost daily. Whether it is helping Premier League players with coginitive skills or putting fans onto an NBA court. The opportunities are there.

But for all the talk there has been little movement. Headsets are still a barrier to entry to the everyday fan, and the feffects of wearing them for a long period of time are restricive. Not to mention the requirements to even think about live streaming games in VR.

So we’re going to dig deeper into this with the help of an expert panel. And we won’t restrict ourselves to VR, with the likes of Microsoft and Magic Leap pushing Mixed Reality, plus the increased use of Augmented Reality in everyday life. A big topic for sure.
