Snapchat and Gatorade to deliver live scores to High School sport

Snapchat is set to bring real-time geofilters to High School American football games in the U.S.

The California-based platform recently tested real-time scores for NBA and NFL, with a feature called Live Score, and the technology is now being deployed at thousands of high schools so the app’s millennial users can add scores to their snaps, with data provided by ScoreStream. This is the first time the real-time scores on Snapchat will include advertising, with Gatorade signed on as sponsor.

Chelsea miss out on the Champions League, but own social media.

Thursday was undoubtedly a frustrating day for Chelsea fans. The club not only had a bid rejected for AC Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli, but also witnessed the first Champions League draw without their club in over a decade after failing to qualify last season.

Tottenham Hotspur, by contrast, had a superb year and secured entry to Europe’s biggest competition. One fan therefore headed to Chelsea’s Facebook page to highlight their lack of involvement, and the Blue’s social team dealt him the perfect reply:

Curry to take on China

Stephen Curry is aiming for global domination on and off the basketball court.

The two-time NBA MVP is now the sole ambassador of PressPlay, a digital media startup that plans on offering exclusive video and features to fans in China. PressPlay’s app is scheduled for release in October, just in time for the upcoming NBA season, but it isn’t the only tech Curry is leveraging to connect with his fan base. Earlier this year, he co-founded Slyce, a social media network with a former college teammate, and “StephMoji“, a collage of Curry-themed emojis for smartphones.

Benteke suffers Twitter gaffe after Palace move

And finally, Christian Benteke’s spell at Crystal Palace got off to a rather shaky start this week. After the Belgian’s £32m switch from Liverpool to Selhurst Park was confirmed, his management updated his Twitter account:

Oops. Palace fans were left bemused as the Belgian seemed to have joined Burnley instead, and even misspelled the Lancashire club in his bio.
