Sports teams create ‘Pokemon GO’ playgrounds

One minor difficulty with Pokemon GO is that some of the ‘Pokestops’ aren’t always convenient to get to. Some may be in the middle of the ocean, others in buildings that aren’t always accessible to the public, such as sports stadiums. Thankfully, sports teams are constantly looking for new and crazy ways to get people out to their stadiums, with the San Antonio Missions, Nebraska Huskers and Manchester City all deciding to let players use their homes as exclusive Pokemon playgrounds.

“With the popularity of this game we have noticed more and more people trying to sneak in,” Huskers Director of Marketing & Fan Experience Matt Tomjack said. “So we’re opening it up, giving everyone a chance to get their Pokemon fix and [hope that will] cut down on the trespassing.”

Wearable tech introduced to basketball

Meet the SOLIDshot Basketball Smart Sleeve, a wearable bit of tech for basketball players to improve the consistency and form of their shots.

The sleeve includes accelerometers and gyroscopes to capture the motion of the shooting arm, which feeds into a device that puts that data through algorithms to assess a player’s shooting. Players or coaches then receive the information in real time to their device.
