Man City sign Giphy

After completing the deal for İlkay Gündoğan, Manchester City have struck their next partnership of the transfer window: with a GIF search engine.

Giphy will host a dedicated MCFC page to give fans instant access to a range of content and in doing so, enhance opportunities for connecting with the club on social media.

Manchester City-themed GIFs will also be incorporated into the timeline on Giphy’s homepage, letting fans use a search bar to find club content for use on their preferred social platforms, including Twitter, Facebook Messenger and Tinder.

The ‘Cityzens’ are not the only City Football Group-owned club to have partnered up with Giphy, with US side New York City FC already maintaining a presence on the site.

To trigger an emoji of a certain country, users can just type a hash followed by the country’s three-letter shorthand name (i.e. #FRA, #ENG, #RUS). Those who type #EURO2016 will trigger an emoji of the tournament trophy:

AS Roma come to Medium

AS Roma has become the first football club to launch an official presence on Medium, the social publishing platform set up by Twitter co-founder Evan Williams.

The club has made available long-form interviews with Italian stars Francesco Totti, Daniele De Rossi and Alessandro Florenzi to begin their partnership with the site, which is part of a digital media strategy that is being driven from the very top of the club.

“Medium is the perfect platform for Roma because it encourages, enables and promotes great storytelling and that’s exactly what we’re trying to do – tell great stories,” said Paul Rogers, AS Roma’s Head of Digital Media. “Football is all about compelling narratives and we have some fantastic characters on and off the pitch with something interesting to say.

“As much as we all love a great gif and a ‘liquidate immediately’ tweet, there is still a place for long-form journalism with beautiful photography”.

With the club’s move to the Olympic Stadium edging ever closer, West Ham have released an impressive 360-degree video to give supporters a final taste of what it felt like for Dimitri Payet and co to experience last season at the Boleyn Ground.

Narrated by lifelong Hammers fan Ray Winstone, the three-minute long feature incorporates high quality visuals, while capturing the iconic ground in a way never before seen.

The video – entitled #ImagineBoleyn – which was produced by the club’s official information technology partners Ricoh – begins in the centre circle of an empty Boleyn Ground, before taking the viewer into the heart of the home dressing room.
