Daily Digest: Twitter dominates the news with raft of new partnership announcements

Today it looks like we’re going to be talking about Twitter, Twitter and some more news about Twitter.

They’ve obviously been busy recently and today has seen several announcements around video streaming and content. Aside from Twitter, what else is going on in the world of Digital Sport? This Thursday I’ll be at the Sports Technology Awards in London, and at the new TechTalks held in the afternoon ahead of the dinner. If you’re going to be at either then do give me a shout!

Twitter Is Debuting 30 New Shows Focused on Activism, Entertainment and Sports (adweek.com)

The first bit of news from the social media platform (can we still describe it as that?). At the company’s second annual NewsFront event they announced a series of new shows that will be appearing on a Twitter feed near you soon. From our perspective you can see what this means for sports coverage in our earlier article here.

The Walt Disney Company and Twitter Announce New Live Content and Advertising Agreement (espnmediazone.com)

Another piece of Twitter news from the same announcement is that they have struck a deal with Disney to create live shows and create advertising opportunities with sport being at the forefront of this new push.

Leaders Podcast: Alex Willis & Joel Seymour-Hyde (leadersinsport.com)

I’m keeping up with my efforts to promote great podcasts in these digests. Today it’s a new one from our friends at Leaders, with James Emmitt and David Cushnan teaming up to  chat with previous DS podcast guest Alex Willis, and Octogan’s Joel Seymour-Hyde. One that I’m going to getting my headphones on to listen to this afternoon.
