Chelsea sign training shirt sponsorship deal
Thai energy drink Carabao has become the first official training wear sponsor of Chelsea Football Club. Starting in the summer of 2016, the partnership will last until at least 2019.
This deal has been reported to be worth around £10 million per season (£30 million in total) and represents a great opportunity for the brand to expand its presence in the UK.
Already present on Reading FC’s shirt, the Carabao logo will feature on Chelsea players’ and staff training kit at Cobham Training Center during Chelsea press conferences, Chelsea tours and as the club travels for friendly and competitive fixtures.
With Yokohama the shirt sponsors during matches, Carabao joins the club in the similar way to how the players and coaches of Manchester United wear Aon as official training wear sponsor for £15m per year.
Carabao Group PLC CEO Sathien Setthasit said he was delighted to become a part of one of the best football teams in the world.
“For the past 10 years Chelsea has been one of the greatest teams in the Premier League”, he said.
“We are looking to expand into the world market and have found Chelsea to be a good partner to take us worldwide. I believe the partnership between Chelsea and Carabao will take us to the world and help us become very famous from now on.”
Chelsea FC continues to improve its leading presence in Thailand. As part of its longstanding partnership with Singha Beer, many tour matches have been played in Thailand. In addition, the club launched the inititave “Here to Play, Here to Stay” in Asia to provide grassroots coaching to thousands of local youngsters since 2011.
