Beats remains master of ambush marketing with new ad ahead of EUROs

Beats by Dre has continued its reputation as a master of ambush marketing after releasing its new ad starring football superstars Harry Kane, Antoine Griezmann, Mario Gotze and Cesc Fabregas.

With each player set to play significant roles in the upcoming EUROs which starts on Friday, Beats has intentionally linked itself with the tournament despite not having any rights to the teams of the respective players or the tournament itself.

Set to the tune of The Prodigy’s Firestarter, the advertisement depicts the players wearing the headphones whilst being stuck in a kind of purgatory between the dressing rooms and the match. This is where they perform trademark moves in the tunnels that lead out into the stadium (but really portray the tunnels that the original music film clip was shot in).

Amazingly, this isn’t the first nor the second time that Beats has embarked on this kind of campaign. Prior to the 2015 Rugby World Cup, the brand effected similar campaigns involving famous rugby players including Richie McCaw and Chris Robshaw.
