AS Roma officially unveil their new website

Italian football giant AS Roma has officially unveiled its widely-anticipated website after using a unique crowd-sourcing method to improve their digital platforms in a complete platform redesign.

As part of their plans to completely redesign the website after the site was voted the sixth worst website out of the Champions League teams during the 2014/2015 season, Reddit was used in order for the club to crowd-source some ideas for the platform.

And the final product unearthed some gold for the club who gained precious insight into what their fans actually wanted.

Acting as a one stop shop for Roma fans around the world, the newly created site is mobile responsive as well as available in both Italian and English with other languages to follow in 2016.

Partnering with Omnigon, a digital consulting firm that specialises in developing creative solutions for leaders in the sports, media and entertainment industries, AS Roma have put together a very eye pleasing platform that seems to work as a comprehensive AS Roma hub.

As part of the website’s new features, the website incorporates a card-based content feed that assists fans in getting content whilst being on the go, a tag system that allows users to directly search for the content that they’re after and a new video service called Roma TV+ which allows users extensive access to exclusive videos from the club.

In addition, the website contains an in-game player which offers team statistics and is powered by Omnigon’s real-time data delivery network Corebine.

AS Roma Head of Digital Paul Rogers, who joined from Premier League club Liverpool in January, said that the idea was to create a platform that was an intermediary for fans of the club.

“My mandate as Head of Digital at AS Roma is to provide an online destination that not only informs and entertains supporters but one that also serves as a platform for our fans to play an active role in creating and sharing content,” he said.

“Based on the feedback we received from fans, we have created a site that attempts to serve as a bridge between how people use social media and what they expect of an official club website.

Interestingly, the site features a lifestyle travel section celebrating the best of Rome which is almost definitely a idea that’s surfaced from crowd-sourcing.
