Apple TV adds more live sport to its network as online streaming grows even more

Just a few weeks ago, there was some chatter about Apple expanding the reach of their Apple TV product by buying up the rights to Formula 1.

And now it seems that they’re extending their reach once again by adding access to the FOX Sports GO app to the platform in the US.

The FOX Sports GO app on Apple TV will give users the chance to watch over 3,000 live sporting events, across multiple sports as Apple looks to add more live sport to its network. The Rio Olympics showed that live streaming of sport is here to stay, and Apple’s latest addition shows that they’re building on this.

Devin Poolman, Senior Vice President, Product Development, FOX Sports Digital said, “Apple TV will be a game changer for viewing live sports, delivering up to four simultaneous streams for fans watching their favorite teams. FOX Sports GO users will also be able to watch at a remarkably fluid 60 frames per second.”

It looks to be a plus for both parties: Apple get more live sport, and FOX gets to expand its reach to Apple TV users as well as giving their existing customers a more bespoke visual experience.

Live streaming is what the public wants, and the ability to watch live sport anywhere has given rise to on the go apps, but to be able to use those very same apps on your TV, in HD, and from the comfort of your own sofa gives users the ability to consume all their sport from the same app wherever they are. It’s a game changer
