All-Star voting can be now done via Google Search

For the first time in the NBA’s history, it will allow fans to vote for their choices for the 2016 All-Star Game (Sunday February 14) via Google Search in a move to make the process not only easier but more digitally engaging.

In previous years, fans have always been able to go to the official website, use the official app or the old-fashioned way in sending a text message. In recent years, the NBA have identified social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as ways to increase their engagement but Google Search seemed a little too far away.

Not anymore. Nothing like a Google Search voting panel has been used before for any sports governing body. On desktop, tablet or mobile, users can google “NBA Vote All-Star” in which all NBA franchises will appear in the search results. Click on each one, select a player and there you have it, vote processed. To make it an even easier and faster process, fans can type “NBA Vote + Team name” which it will then bring up the team’s players.

Only one personal account can vote with a selection of 10 players maximum per day.

In addition to the Google Search, the NBA has rolled out a voting system on the three social platforms that were thought to have been targeted; Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

For each one the voting system is the same. Social users have to tweet/retweet, post on Facebook or share a photo on Instagram accompanying the player ID and the hashtag #NBAvote. Each post must mention only one player and, similar to Google Search, fans can vote for only 10 players per day.
