What’s this #Savagenight hashtag all about?

You may have seen the hashtag #savagenight being used in the last couple of days with some teasers that something is going to happen on Friday 10th Dec.

Love him or hate him, Robbie Savage http://twitter.com/robbiesavage8) is someone who has split public opinion both on and off the park for almost 20 years. From his start as part of the same Manchester United youth team as Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, Gary Neville and Nicky Butt to a career that has spanned spells with Leicester City, Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers and now Derby County.

Now towards the end of his playing career he has successfully began a new career in the media with regular appearances on TV, radio and social media.  His presence on Facebook and more famously Twitter has helped elevate his personal brand and with it he has found a perfect platform for his outspoken opinions and debateable singing skills!

Friday sees a new Twitter event by Robbie that has been put together to celebrate him passing 100,000 followers on the platform.

So what is it all about?

The Idea

People have to tweet why they should win the competition in under 140 characters, including the #savagenight hashtag between 1pm and 7pm on Friday 10th Dec.  The best tweets received will be picked out to win.

The Prize

The winner will be invited, with a friend, to spend a fun night out with Robbie.  They will also get a one-night stay at a 5-star hotel as part of the package.

Why?

It is a celebration with his fans of getting to 100,000 fans but also the competition highlights what Robbie is all about on Twitter –  interacting with fans, banter, giving people an inside view of life as a professional footballer and just good fun.

Here is a TwitVid posted by the man himself to explain the promo http://twitvid.com/AGJLV

Both Robbie and his PR agency Macesport want to give fans the opportunity to gain access to money can’t buy experiences.  We wait to see how this works and I am sure it will be the first of more events from @robbiesavage8

If you are the winner then make sure you tweet about your night out!  Good luck everyone entering. Make sure you post your comments on the Twitter mad footballer here. Do you follow him?
