We all like some stats every now and again, and I am no different.  There is nothing really to gain from seeing who has the most followers on Twitter (or Facebook) but it is interesting to take a look at and see who is up there.

This data comes from Social Bakers, they run an ongoing league table of different accounts that are segmented down to Profiles, Brands, Celebrities, Entertainment, Media and Sports.  Our obvious interest is in sport.

To give it some context when looking at these, the most followers of any account is Lady Gaga (29.9m) as singers take up the Top 5 positions;  Justin Bieber (28.5m), Katy Perry (27.2m), Rihanna (26.1m) and Britney Spears (20.8m).

So, without any further ado.  Here is the list of the top 20 Sports stars and clubs on Twitter.  Do any of them surprise you?

The 1st number is number they follow and the next is amount of followers they have.
