Apply for the Ultimate Sports Apprenticeship!

The search has begun to find the sports industry’s ultimate apprentice.

GMR Marketing is offering one aspiring sports and entertainment professional the opportunity to get behind-the-scenes access to the world’s best sports and entertainment events over the next 12 months, culminating with the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

This successful entrant will also fly to California for the Super Bowl, may work behind-the-scenes in Paris for the 2016 UEFA European Championships, mix with Hollywood stars on the red carpet at the Sundance Film Festival and battle the waves in the Extreme Sailing Series in Sydney.

Conceived by GMR Marketing, in partnership with SportBusiness Group, GMR’s Ultimate Apprentice will travel to the industry’s major events to gain unprecedented experience across North America, Europe and Australasia.

James Hunt, managing director, GMR Marketing EMEA, said:

“The apprentice will have the opportunity to experience the nuts and bolts of what makes this industry work. They will get to witness first-hand the reason that broadcasters and sponsors invest into sports and entertainment as fans and audiences engage in their passion.  And importantly they will be given the access and the tools to be able to develop content and share their experiences throughout the year, which, with the support of SportBusiness Group, will provide valuable behind-the-scenes insights to the next generation of sports marketers and the industry at large.

“The apprenticeship is the perfect opportunity for someone looking to break in to the industry and we are really excited to see how it develops and progresses.”

Entrants have to submit their CV and a 90 second video explaining why they are suitable for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gmrmarketing.com/apprentice. Eligible entrants must be legal residents of the UK and over the age of 18, have social media, strong writing and speaking skills, as well as a strong understanding of marketing and the events industry.

“This is a fantastic chance for someone to gain twenty years’ experience in just twelve months,” said Owen Evans, editor of SportBusiness International. “It is the perfect fast-track ticket for anyone looking to make a name for themselves in sports marketing.”

The apprentice will be a GMR employee on a 12-month contract with a salary plus expenses. The entry will be in four stages: CV and video entry, Skype interview & written assessment, public vote and then a final sports marketing pitch, judged by an expert panel.

The deadline for entry is 11:59pm on 16 September, 2015. Visit gmrmarketing.com/en-uk/apprentice  for more information.
