Sports Tech Meetup – 28th November

28th November 2012 – Content, Content , Content

Thank you to everyone who came along to the Google Campus on Wednesday and hopefully I didn’t pass my cold/flu onto anyone whilst there!  It was a fun day to run with some great speakers offering a huge variety of views and topics on the subject of social media content.

There were different technologies and case studies showing what can be done.  There was a really good panel involving UK Athletics, Pitch PR (though talking Women’s FA), AKQA and We Play.  And we had a non-sports content marketing perpective from Econsultancy.

Below is the story of the event told through Twitter.  There were well over 200 mentions of #sportstechmeetup not including retweets so we may even have been trending somewhere at some point.  There were some great quotes and conversations going on around the event, including from Man City’s Richard Ayers who heard that City were only getting mentioned for their success and having lots of money.  From this he wrote a blog post defending the clubs position.

I can safely say, that in the room there was no lambasting of Man City and the times they were mentioned (including by myself) there was no ill talk and only admiration from what they have achieved.  Maybe at the next event we can tempt Richard along to speak about the club, it would be great to hear more about their journey.

Other highlights from the day included the arrival of Sanjit ‘Biggles’ Atwal who really looked the part in his flying jacket on and the Dell tech fail on the last presentation which we did eventually get resolved.  Well done to the guys at Livewire and Aqueduct for keeping going through that period!  (note to self- remember to get Microsoft Office for new Macbook so that can use Powerpoint!).

Until the next time (hopefully February)….. have a great rest of 2012!
