Nike immerses football fans in Arda Turan’s speech in 360-degree

Ahead of the Euros, Nike Football has kicked off a new campaign in Turkey by allowing fans to get a 360-degree perspective of the Turkey national football team’s dressing room featuring Nike ambassador and national team captain Arda Turan.

Created in conjunction with Amsterdam-based ad agency Wiedfen+Kennedy, the first part of the campaign named “Half Time Speech” is a video of the FC Barcelona star talking to his teammates during a half-time break.

In the ad, Arda goes to length to portray the pride in the Turkish shirt and draws motivation from his players in imploring them to “play for kids who dream of wearing this shirt”.

The second part of the campaign is more interesting in terms of how Nike has applied the 360-degree video technology, something which we’re seeing much more of from brands in the last six months. Once again, we’re taken into the locker room of the Turkish national team, however, it’s a new speech from Arda Turan and the video is a 360-degree version.

Aimed at fully immersing viewers and fans in the captain’s speech, viewers are able to move inside the video and take a look around the locker room.

Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam’s Creative Directors David Smith and Craig Williams, wanted to avoid the video being a ‘gimmick-like’ feature and portray it as a real experience.

“The circular nature of a team huddle with all the players gathered around the captain lends itself to using 360° cameras. As did the binaural sound, which amplified the viewer’s sense of being right in the middle of an amazing team moment,” they said.
