MyLocalPitch – increasing grassroots sports participation by modernising the search and booking process

MyLocalPitch was launched in January 2014 by Jamie Foale and Sandford Loudon to enable people to search and book sports venues online. Often the existing process is ponderous so MyLocalPitch has streamlined the process which in turn has boosted grassroots sports participation and the ease of managing sports venues.

The company works with the finest providers of sports venues in London and Dublin, who oversee the best pitches, courts and other sports facilities.

MLP provides booking software and marketing services for venues as well as providing a web and mobile platform for sports players to search and book pitches.

Owners of the business include a Non-executive director of the Premier League, a majority shareholder in Swansea City AFC, the former chairman of the FA and an ex-Ireland international footballer.

MyLocalPitch is growing quickly and has signed up the largest venue operators in London, including PowerLeague, Fusion and GLL. There are currently 13 sports available through the site with thousands of active users enjoying access to over 4000 pitches and courts on MLP’s database. There are plans to expand into Manchester and Birmingham over the next six to twelve months.

An app, built for iOS 9, launched today which is a significant milestone as it allows users to search and book sports venues on the move to further simplify the process.

This is the only app to provide a search and booking portal for grassroots sports. Research conducted reveals that half of MLP’s users arrive from mobile and tablet devices so creating a simple product that allows users to find and book sport on the move was the logical step.

It also allows users to compare prices, search for their favourite surfaces, and book indoor venues. The app enables users to search for pitches near their location and it can be downloaded from the App Store today. Alternatively, visit their online site here.
