Messi takes to Twitter!

Before you get too excited, I can confirm that Leo Messi has not started his own account on Twitter (though not for people trying and wanting it to happen).  He might be the most famous and best footballer in the world but he is notoriously shy when it comes to sharing his thoughts in public.

So he has not started a Twitter account…. then what is this all about?

Well, he is actually going to be on Twitter tomorrow. But for one day only.  For this pleasure we have adidas to thank as they have managed to twist his arm and bring him onto the platform.  You can join in by getting your questions in to him before he plays in one his clubs most difficult matches in years.  The once all conquering Barcelona team and coming into their return tie against AC Milan 2-0 down and having just lost back to back El Classico’s in the last week.

So he may not be in the best of moods!  And who knows, he may decide not to go ahead with it.  Footballers (and sportmen generally) can be like that sometimes.  But i have faith that he will.

To hear him answer the questions all you have to do is follow the adidas-backed Messi account, @TeamMessi, and he will appear sometime during the day (no time has been set from what I can see).

If you’d like to ask him a question yourself then you can tweet it to him using #AskMessi.  No doubt he will get thousands of questions and a select few will be answered by the great man.  It has been noted that #AskMessi has already been ambushed by Real Madrid fans keen to rub the Barca mans nose in it after their recent – probably temporary – fall from grace.

We look forward to seeing how it goes and checking out some of his answers.
