Liverpool FC unveils its own social portal

In a partnership demonstrating Liverpool Football Club’s endeavour to get social, it has unveiled a social portal named “LFC Xtra” built in conjunction with social network platform Vixlet.

Available for iOS, Android as well as online, the football club has transformed its ‘Xtra magazine’ into the ultimate social platform purely dedicated to Liverpool fans.

On the social network, Liverpool and Vixlet use the social media platform’s “Capsules” feature to enable fans to check out the latest club and player news, watch videos or take a look at some statistics. The platform also facilitates better communication between fans, allowing them to create their own stories, share content from other fans as well as base interaction. It even allows fans to customize the platform to their LFC needs.

The development is yet another sign of the emphasis that LFC has placed on enabling fans to not only engage with the club but to engage with others after  their partnership with Skype made earlier in the year to assist fan interaction.

Liverpool FC Chief Commercial Officer Billy Hogan said that the partnership would bring the club’s focus on fan engagement to the fore.

“Vixlet is a social network like no other and we’re delighted they have become a partner enabling us to bring a brand new social portal to our fans. LFC Xtra will be the place for our fans around the world to interact with the club and each other like never before.”
