Gatorade teams up with social media platforms

Gatorade has announced the launch of a project named “Bolt Breakers” in which its partnered with a number of tech platforms to develop new technology to assist athletes.

In partnership with CoreSyte, Facebook, Spotify and Twitter, the project was officially launched ahead of Super Bowl 50 last Friday near San Francisco, where the companies unveiled their innovative ideas to help athletes perform at their best.

Over the next six week, Coresyte, Facebook and Twitter will all work together in order to develop platforms dedicated to connect athletes and provide solutions for their performance needs. While this is happening, Gatorade will also be working with Spotify in order to better understand how music affects athletes’ performance.

All ideas and results will be shared at an event at SXsports in Austin, Texas on 12 March which will feature a panel of experts and technology partners.

Gatorade Head of Innovation and Design Xavi Cortadella  hopes the partnership will culminate in an ability to provide better technological support and insight in order to assist athletes in optimising their performance.

“Innovation has always been at the core of who we are as a brand, so we are excited to collaborate with four of the world’s leading tech companies to provide athletes with new solutions,” he said.

“I know all of us at Gatorade are looking forward to seeing what our partners develop and we are eager to help implement each of their new platforms.”

The recent spate of partnerships established with Gatorade including their deal with the All Blacks all seem to work towards the drink brands main goal of improving its technological footing in order to boost athletic performance. And a huge part of the goal is made up by its own Sports Science Institute which is primarily focused on gathering data and collecting feedback from athletes in order to better understand their nutrition needs.
