FC Barcelona players star in In-Flight Safety video

FC Barcelona’s primary sponsor, Qatar Airways has followed in the footsteps of other airlines by launching a very cool In-Flight Safety video with Blaugrana players taking centre stage.

In the video featuring football superstars Luis Suarez, Ivan Rakitic, Gerard Piqué, Lionel Messi, Neymar, Javier Mascherano, the narration of the video follows along similar lines to a tradition Air Safety demonstration before a flight takes off.

However, this one is done a little differently with the actions that would normally be reserved for the flight attendants, performed by fans and players in the environment of the Camp Nou. Some funny sequences are shown with ladies being provided oxygen (from masks that fall above as if in a plane) when they see Barcelona’s defender Pique arriving at the stadium.

Club partner since the 2013/2014 season, the airline has released the video to challenge its main competitor Emirates who did a similar video with their flight attendants to open a Benfica game in Portugal.

Despite the future of the partnership between Qatar Airways and FC Barcelona still being up in the air, the company hasn’t missed an opportunity to promote its relationship. The video below has a received more than 9 million views on YouTube in two weeks.

While it is an innovative way to introduce In-Flight Safety, Qatar Airlines and Emirates are far from the first airlines to effect this kind of activation with Air New Zealand pioneering the style since 2012 with their use of the Hobbit in their In-Flight safety videos as well as their most recent video involving the All Blacks and the very famous Men In Black films.
