Everton Partner with Liverpool Hope University for Data Driven Initiatives

Everton FC have announced a partnership with Liverpool Hope University, as the club aims to optimise its fanbase growth and commercial development using new technology and advanced research methods. The five year partnership is the first of its kind between a top university and Premier League club.

The club will benefit from the university’s researchers and vast academic resources to drive corporate performance and expand the fanbase, as access to a dedicated research facility will allow for extensive testing of new strategies and initiatives.

Liverpool Hope recently bestowed upon the executive chair of Everton in the Community and director at Everton Football Club, Denise Barrett-Baxendale, an Honorary Visiting Professorship in Leadership in Sport Serving Humanity. The partnership will expand upon this academic exchange through guest lectures and expanded opportunities for placements and volunteering.

“The quality of the support we will now get from Liverpool Hope, which has recently become the third highest ranked modern university in the country and one of the top 50 UK universities, is best-in-class” Professor Barrett-Baxendale said a statement.

The partnership’s first formal project will examine and quantify the social work of the Everton in the Community program, enabling the club to better allocate resources based on measurements of the tangible effects of its charity work in the city of Liverpool.

“The benefit of being in a long-term research relationship means our focus can be on the quality of the work and the impact made by our research,” Vice Chancellor and Rector of Liverpool Hope University Gerald Pillay said in a statement, adding, “It is a great opportunity for the university and for Everton – but what excites me the most is the impact this partnership could have on our city, and potentially other cities, once the model is proven.”
